You Just Passed Your Real Estate Exam – How Do You Choose a Broker to Work With? 3 Important Items

So, you’ve just passed your real estate license exam… next up, you need to find a real estate brokerage to work with.

Ryan Haley, broker and owner of Atlantic Shores Sotheby’s International Realty, offers three important factors you should look for when finding a real estate brokerage to work with.

The real estate business can take you to new limits you’ve never imagined. And after the excitement that comes with passing the real estate exam, the next challenge is to find a great brokerage firm to associate with.

Your brokerage of choice should be able to shorten the learning curve and give you more confidence to succeed faster. Some new real estate agents get into the business only to find out that it isn’t easy. If you don’t have someone helping you along the way, you’d get burned out, lose your confidence, and eventually quit the business.

3 Factors You Should Look for in a Real Estate Brokerage

Great Support

When you’re in real estate and you’re new, you need to associate with a brokerage that has people in place to answer your questions. You’re bound to have questions along the way.

Some brokerages offer mentorship, some have a real estate manager in place, while others have a broker in place as well as staff in place to help answer your questions seven days a week. That is what we’ve developed at Atlantic Shores Sotheby’s, which has a broker (Ryan Haley), a sales manager as well as staff available seven days a week to help you write the contracts and answer questions you may have.

Training

It is one thing to take all your pre-license courses and then pass the test, which is what you need to be compliant with the state to get your license. But, when it comes to knowledge of helping buyers and sellers and succeeding in the world of real estate, you need constant training.

You need to have a program and a plan that will take you from being a new agent to becoming an agent able to sell 24 homes a year. A lot of people want to go from zero to $100k income a year.

Without a proper training plan in place, it is going to be very difficult to achieve that kind of success.

Opportunities

The most important factor to consider when choosing a real estate brokerage, especially if you’re brand new, are the opportunities that the brokerage offers.

An opportunity can be a lead, a client, a customer, or an opportunity for you to do an open house for you to generate customers and clients.

The brokerages that are not giving their new agents opportunities are leaving their agents high and dry. They come in, thinking they are going to have a great career, but without opportunities, they won’t have anybody to work with. You could be the best real estate agent in the world, but if you don’t have anybody to work with, without buyers and sellers, it doesn’t mean anything.

There are many real estate agents who may not be that skilled but are selling lots of properties. These are the agents that have figured it out and found opportunities, whether self-generated, through their sphere of influence, or they’re working with a brokerage that is giving them opportunities. These are the agents who have been able to shorten the learning curve and keep their confidence high, allowing them to feel good about themselves and have great success early on.

Takeaway

Support, training, and opportunities are 3 of the most important things you should be looking for when determining which brokerage you should be working with. If you have any questions, it will be our pleasure to assist you in any way we can.
