Are buyers still getting home inspections? That’s a question that we get, not only from buyers but also curious sellers who are looking to put their homes on the market and curious as to what contingencies they might see.
Well, what can be said is that we are seeing a return to the home inspection. For a while, over the course of the last two years, we have seen many cases where home inspections were waived by buyers. Buyers were doing anything they could to stand out from the crowd and get their offers accepted.
But the way the market is today, we’ve seen more home inspections coming into play. So, yes, as a buyer, that’s a benefit to you because you have the ability now to get the home inspected to make sure that it is going to work for you and that there are no red flags.
As a seller, it’s one thing that you want to take into consideration when pricing the home and preparing the home for sale. You need to realize that most buyers will have a home inspection completed on it. There could be items that are found that need to be corrected and/or repaired. Thus, as a seller, it’s always good to get out ahead of those repairs and get them taken care of ahead of time.
