If you’re just starting out in the real estate business and cannot seem to get it right, or if you’re still struggling to meet your goals, then there may something wrong with what you’re doing.
Ryan Haley, broker and owner of Atlantic Shores Sotheby’s International Realty, shares a helpful tip to budding and experienced real estate agents who want to become better agents.
What we’re seeing that apparently seems to work is the evolution of teams. The Haley Group is one of the first ones in Ocean City to build a team, and it is continuing to grow that team.
To become a better agent, specialization is key.
The agents at Atlantic Shores Sotheby’s are specialists. Because of this, our agents are in the best position to win when it comes to negotiations and positioning that contract so the client has the upper hand.
These specialist agents are then assisted by support staff to help them every step of the way.
What may be going wrong with many agents just getting into the real estate business is that they tend to wear too many hats. In a day, they may be a buyer’s agent in the morning, then switch to become a seller’s agent in the afternoon. They would also handle the marketing on social media and pay the bills at the end of the day.
With this kind of system, you’re not specializing in anything at all. You’re not learning or getting educated to get the people in their best position because you are trying to do too much.
To make it worse, a lot of agents are wearing a different kind of uniform in a different kind of industry half the time. It’s only part-time that they are being a real estate agent.
